Job Opportunities
Greenbelt Alliance is the San Francisco Bay Area's land conservation and urban planning nonprofit. For 50 years, Greenbelt Alliance has been active across the nine-county region protecting open space, opposing sprawl, and promoting livable, equitable communities. We have helped save over 1 million acres of working farms and natural areas. We are a leader in promoting regional solutions to the problems of sprawl, including affordable housing policies, and were one of the first environmental groups to recognize the importance of good urban planning in saving open space. With the threat of climate change looming large, our latest efforts involve helping leaders and decision-makers make the connection between land use and greenhouse gas emissions. With a talented, diverse staff and our legacy of success, Greenbelt Alliance plans to keep the Bay Area a great place to live, work, and play. 2. You will get excellent benefits.
Greenbelt Alliance's culture encourages open communication, creativity, sharing of information, collaborative strategy development, and skill-building. Employees are encouraged to grow with their jobs and to develop new skills, from understanding land-use issues and public speaking to gaining computer and technology skills. We make it a priority to recruit and retain a diverse staff that mirrors the Bay Area, the region that we serve. We take pride in empowering each person to identify challenges and craft solutions, and the full staff meets every week to coordinate our efforts. We take three or four field trips every year, and everyone takes part in creating our annual workplan and budget. 4. You will work toward a mission. If you have always wanted to do something that makes a difference, this is the job for you. At Greenbelt Alliance, you can know that every meeting you facilitate and every report you create is contributing to protecting open spaces and creating vibrant, equitable places.
With a small, committed staff of 23 and an important regional focus, there is a sense of teamwork and mutual support among staff members. People here work hard and take our work seriouslybut we play hard too. From exploring thriving urban environments, to hiking the region on Greenbelt Outings, to dancing at our annual benefit concert, Bluegrass for the Greenbelt, Greenbelt Alliance staff enjoy the Bay Area while working to make it a better place. Join us! You can help shape the future of the Bay Area and feel great about your work. |
