Solano County General Plan Update

Solano County is currently updating its General Plan. The General Plan is the blueprint for how the County grows and includes guidelines for how the it uses energy and water, builds roads, protects agriculture and open space, and provides transportation. The update of the General Plan is an opportunity for Solano residents to speak up and say what they think is most important for the future of the county.

Lagoon Valley

Greenbelt Alliance opposed development in Lagoon Valley, a scenic agricultural valley southwest of Vacaville. After two years of work, the fight ended with an agreement to reduce the scale of development in Lagoon Valley, and for the City of Vacaville to establish an Urban Growth Boundary. Greenbelt Alliance and its allies collected over 10,000 signatures from Vacaville residents in less than six weeks in support of a growth boundary, prompting the City Council to adopt the ordinance outright. Greenbelt Alliance applauds Vacaville’s leaders for taking this important step.

Napa County: "Save Measure J"
Greenbelt Alliance is working with our allies in Napa County to extend Measure J, the initiative largely responsible for Napa County's success in protecting its agricultural land for the last 17 years.  Measure J was first enacted by voters in 1990 and requires a vote of the people to change any land that is designated as Agricultural Resource or Agricultural Watershed/ Open Space to any other land use designation.
