Greenbelt Alliance In the NewsNovember 11, 2002 City should look inward for growth, report says Subheading Staff ReportVacaville should focus on future development within its own city limits, rather than annex land outside its borders, according to a report released Monday by the Greenbelt Alliance. The report lists several areas that could be redeveloped, including central Vacaville, the factory outlets and other commercial centers, the Nut Tree core area, the Interstate 80-505 business park, North Village and the Rice-McMurtry area. By focusing future growth inward, the city would preserve its quality of life and surrounding open space, according to the report. City officials have proposed annexing and developing roughly 4,000 acres of nearby farmland and open space. A nonprofit organization, the Greenbelt Alliance focuses on protecting open space and promoting livable communities in the Bay Area. ### |
