Greenbelt Alliance In the News
November 15, 2002 Greenbelt Alliance plans two events
Antioch BylineTwo events are planned by the Greenbelt Alliance to address growth and redevelopment in Antioch. The first, a panel discussion and tour of the downtown Rivertown District, will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The event begins at the Nick Rodriguez Community Center arts and crafts room, 213 F St. The panel discussion will center on ways to revitalize the historic waterfront district, often referred to as Antioch's hidden asset. Rick Carraher, president of the Rivertown Business Association; Nordyn Anderson, president of the El Campanil Theater Restoration Foundation; and Sonya Cooney, the Antioch Lions Club president, will be joined by Jeff Eichenfield, whose firm specializes in downtown revitalization projects. Woody Karp, project developer of Eden Housing, which is nearing completion of its 57-unit affordable-housing project downtown, also will speak on the panel, as will Antioch resident Reggie Moore. The event is free but reservations are requested. For more information or reservations, call Julie Cummins at 415-398-3730 or 800-543-GREEN. The second event is a citizens' organizational meeting focusing on the development of 2,700 acres of land at the city's southeastern border. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Antioch Public Library. The event is co-sponsored by the Citizens for a Better Antioch, the Greenbelt Alliance, the Sierra Club and Save Mt. Diablo. ### |
