August 29, 2003 Planning assoc. wins award Subheading BylineThe California Chapter of the American Planning Association (CCAPA) announced today that the Smart Infill: Creating More Livable Communities in the Bay Area guidebook by the Greenbelt Alliance has won the organizations 2003 Education Project Award of Merit. The award is one of 10 Awards of Merit presented to outstanding planners and planning projects. The award will be presented on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at CCAPAs Link to the Past ... A Bridge to the Future state conference taking place in Santa Barbara. The Greenbelt Alliance hands-on guidebook for in-fill development presented 12 key strategies to help the San Francisco Bay Area grow smarter, said CCAPA Awards Coordinator Brian Smith. The CCAPA Awards Jury was impressed with the guidebooks ease of use, and its potential use by other municipalities outside the Bay Area. As State Senator Tom Torlakson has stated, Strategies from the Greenbelt Alliance will move infill forward as a coordinated approach for creating more livable communities. Winners were selected from outstanding individuals and projects from across the state, each nominated by a member of the planning group. The awards recognize outstanding planning and service to the community. Awards are presented in two categories: Awards of Excellence and Awards of Merit. ### |
