Story did not fly

Letter to the Editor

Byline

Reporter Editor:

Your front-page story, "Will Kite links plan in Lagoon Valley fly?" (Reporter, May 14), fails not only to explore the debate suggested by its title, but also neglects to address the basic questions Vacaville residents are asking about Lagoon Valley.

Should Lagoon Valley be developed at all? If the city does allow development, should such a project expand public parks for the use of the Vacaville community instead of creating a sprawling, water-gobbling private golf course? Do Solano County residents really want another golf course, in addition to the 10 that already exist? Do Vacaville residents need luxury housing around an exclusive golf course, or do they want attractive, affordable housing choices near parklands?

Sadly, your article reads more like a developer-sponsored advertisement than a news story.

Natalie DuMont, Greenbelt Alliance, Vacaville
