Witnessing Sacramento bulldoze over its agricultural land over the last few years. Wong decided to concentrate her efforts locally. She joined Greenbelt Alliance, a Bay Area nonprofit land conservation and urban planning group where she works with residents and civic leaders on "smart growth" in other words, ideal urban development that is affordable, public transit-oriented, pedestrian-friendly, and allows for a mix of commercial and residential space.
